Summer Garden Club News

From Garden Club President, Alice Henrick:

The Gordonston Garden Club has accomplished and started several important projects. In April the front marker was replanted with perennials — golden mops cypress, blue pacific juniper, yellow Bulbine and white Angelonia.

The club also began the long planned process of marking the memorial tress in the park. The first five markers were installed on both new and old plantings along the front walk. Jack Taylor has headed the committee to see that these special plantings are marked in a way that will let residents and neighbors recognize and appreciate these gifts to the park and the special people who have called this place home.

Finally, our movie series ended with a perfect evening for laughs and friendship. Many thanks to committee chairs Steve and Meaghan Gerard for providing us with four spectacularly fun vintage cinema evenings. We hope this new tradition will continue.

May marked the final meeting of our calendar year and the announcement that a new slate of officers is now being sought. Nominations by club members for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer are now being accepted. If you would like to nominate someone for the one of those offices please send your

nominations to csbaeh411@gmail.com.

The next garden club meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September 20. Come out and join us at 6:30 as we learn all about how to design, grow, and maintain an espalier. Savannah Victory Gardens’ own Kerry Shay will share his knowledge of the classic technique.

As always, Happy Gardening!
